#AIRBRIDGE ROUTER PC#
So if your PC as it is has a good stable connection, maybe at least 10-20mbps, relativly low ping time on speedtests like 70ms or below, and its good enough to push the game and settings you are playing without maxing CPU or GPU, then yes, the Air bridge will work well for you even with a shitty router wifi for online gaming.Įdit: to simplify, if you can using a wired link cable works fine, then air bridge will work just as well, only with a bit more compression.Welcome to /r/OculusQuest, the place to discuss the Meta/Oculus Quest and Quest 2. If its just the wifi on the router that sucks, and wired is fine, you will be good with online play, airbridge doesnt use your router it all, its direct from PC to Quest, AS LONG AS your PC is also wired (may still be fine if your PC is wireless since online games dont use that much data, as long as its at least stable). Now for online play, you say the router is bad, but thats kinda ambiguous.

So for airbridge, it will work fine if you have usb 3.0 and are in the same room, and should be smooth as long as your PC can handle what you are playing. The dedicated wifi 5 AP is decent to and i use that when im not near the PC. The VR air bridge works great, i can set to 200mbps bit rate and it runs well with only the occasional hickup (which cabled link does as well sometimes). I have the vr airbridge as well as a dedicated Wifi5 AP. For internet gaming, the PCs wireless would be just a maybe a few milliseconds more than wired to the router, but OP mentioned valorant runs good and ping was about 30ms, so thats fine.Įdit: to add, OP has a wifi adapter now that connects to the current router, the VR Air Bridge is a whole separate wifi adapter, so its not like one wireless device trying to do two connections which would have a problem, but two entirely separate wifi controllers. The PCs wireless to the internet router wont affect the video and tracking between the quest and the air bridge since air bridge is direct to usb port and doesn't connect to the home except through the PC if ICS is enabled. Then the air bridge will have the same or slightly less latency than a separate wifi AP/router, only being beat out by wired link. The router and bridge will usually be on different channels so they won't interfere.
